National Quilting Day at Heritage Village
    When:   March 21, 2009
    Where:  Pinellas Room, Heritage Village
Time:   10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Pinellas County quilting guilds celebrated National Quilting Day by displaying quilts in 5 of the historic buildings in Heritage Village.  In the Pinellas room, historian Marian Smith, Largo Cracker Quilters, talked about "Civil War Quilts - North and South;" and Virginia Swanson, Suncoast Quilting Circle, presented the "History of Crazy Quilts."  An estimated crowd of 1,500 visited the free event and were impressed by the variety of quilts on display. Appliqué, art, challenge, bed, miniature, and wall hanging quilts were all shown.  Next year, 2010, we will do it again on the third Saturday in March - same time, same place!
