LARGO CRACKER QUILTERS 2010 CALENDAR FEBRUARY February 1 Sit and Sew/ Joseph Abene bringing many, many quilt books, etc. that will be for sale to our members. Bring your money and get some real bargains. We will split the proceeds half and half with Mr. Abene. February 8 End of Baby Quilt Contest/Judging and Prizes February 15 Diane Suden will be visiting from Brookwood to collect the quilts we have made for her girls. February 22 Business Meeting MARCH March 1 Workshop at COC. Marlene Glickman will present a trunk show from 10-11:30 and workshop from 12-3. Easy Silk Dyeing, using instant setting dyes, learn simple design and coloring methods for creating dyes. Learn casual Shibori (scrunch dye) techniques without tying or major preparations that result in sunset lines or zebra stripes, soft or dynamic floral images and little window shapes. If you are comfortable with cotton, transitioning to silk is easy when using silk broadcloth. Other silks will be available for experimentation. No mess, non-toxic, no heat setting, nor special equipment needed to produce the colors you want. As well, learn to make a silk greeting card from silk organza. And more! Marlene will have dyes, silk fabrics and more to sell after the workshop. March 8 Barbara Herbranson – Demonstration on “Problem Free Bias”. He will bring some of his quilts and show us the Christmas Tree wall hanging that was shown in the window of the International Museum in St. Petersburg , Fl. May 10 Garage/Yard Sale – Bring all your quilting cast offs and find something else that you can use for your quilting projects.
